With the costs of life, the dollar amounts go up.

Yesterday we went to the Easter Show. It was exciting - we saw lots and lots and LOTS of animals. We saw so many animals, we lost count of how many we saw! Crocodile sausages were on sale, so we tried some. It could have been the sweet chilli and lemon myrtle sauce that the guys put on it before handing it to us, but boy, was it HOT!! The corn on a stick with butter, salt and pepper was muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better! We argued over who would eat more of it. Mwahaha...

For the 2nd day of the show being open, I expected more people to be there. It was crowded, true, but it wasn't a crowdedly crowded crowd. There were lots of people watching the dog judging competitions and the woodchopping competitions and the equestrian competitions. There were people who only go for the rides - we didn't go for this purpose. The rides seemed exhuberantly expensive - instead of paying a dollar or two per person per ride, the operators were charging by the coupon, and most rides require at least six coupons per person per ride. I figured if there was a family of 5 children that wanted to go on a ride once, that'd be really expensive - at over a dollar per coupon, you do the math, especially if both parents and all the rellies join in...

Add to that the showbags thing. Some showbags were priced at $25 and there aint all that much that go in them - a chocolate here, a pen there... and lots of candy that's not worth much more than $5... so I wonder, occasionally, where they get the valuations done that say "save $140" or some such thing. Anyway, we got one showbag that was under $25, so it wasnt so bad, and it had a lot more stuff in it than the $25 ones get. There were so many people who had to have spent $200+ on showbags alone yesterday - there were folks who were carrying so many showbags it looked like part of their body had ballooned up a la the lil blueberry brat in Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"!!

All in all, it was a good day, and the most we spent was on the entry fee and the train ticket (combined ticketing). We did well.

Gotta love Sims 2. No doubt about it.

It's addictive, but hey, when you're having fun, who cares? Oh, that's right. The teachers who expect assignments to be handed in care. They want the assignments.

I'll do the assignments later. There's plenty of time... so today, I'll go play Sims 2, with the University and Nightlife expansion packs. Oh, and the Open For Business one, too, if I can find it on the shelves at the store.

Keeping an eye out next month for another pack to be released - Family Fun Stuff pack. It's apparently a stuff pack as opposed to an expansion pack, not sure what the difference is, but what the heck. If I have the money when it's released in stores I'm gonna go get it. Mwahahaha....

Times like this I wonder what the use of daylight saving is, and timezones in general send my brain to splinters.

Why is it that when it's 12:00 midnight somewhere, it's 4am somewhere else and 8pm in another area? I just have never been able to grasp why the world of time works the way it does.

I can leave that to the scientists to give me the answer...

What does one do when life grabs you by the horns and drags you kicking and screaming across the universe?

When life gets complicated, it gets WAY too complicated to simplify, even when you try to simplify it. Why?

But hey, it's more interesting when it's complicated!

Ever had an assignment where you get to play with instant messenger programs? It's exciting when teachers make assignments fun. You get to yabber on with your friends while (supposedly) assignmenting.

How fantabulous!

Assignments - gotta love 'em.

Some are easy. Some are hard. Some are interesting. Some are boring. Some need an editor to proofread the actual questions and tasks the original assessor wants the assignment-completers to do because afore-mentioned assignment-completers don't understand a thing that's been asked of them to do.

Some are a waste of time. Like the one that required a technical manual to be developed for a piece of software nobody's ever heard of before - but it's apparently out there.

Some can be handed in early. Some get handed in late. Some don't have a due date at all.

Some require writing or typing. Some require use of other implements or software. Like the one that requires the use of diagnostic tools and viruses. Yes, viruses.

I'd rather watch a subtitled movie right now. But the assignments must be handed in or the assessors will not like me. That means I have to actually sit down and do some typing or virusing or something.

Bleurgh.

What an exciting day I've had. Checked out a university, squatted on an interview, and got a letter from a friend I haven't received a letter from since the late 1990's. Wow, that was last century! I feel OLD!
